Ridgeway Pizza

Located on Summer Street, Ridgeway Pizza has been a takeout staple for families and businesses alike for years. Ridgeway holds a special place in our hearts as well, having delivered to us many times at Westhill High School back when we had the run of the place in 2004, which is no small feat considering how well the gestapo had that building buttoned up back then.

Establishment. Ridgeway doesn't exactly have a low lit dining room with free bread and checkered tablecloths. In fact, it scores pretty low against our establishment criteria (except for the parking, which is plentiful and fabulously located, and the oven, which is 11 feet tall, awesome, and spins). Rather than harp on too many of the irrelevant negatives, lets get to what keeps Stamford's pizza-adoring public coming back for more.

Pizza. Ridgeway Pizza is delicious. If you're a fan of thin crust pizza, you'll be estatic with Ridgeway's pie. The crust is thin but full of flavor, the cheese is wonderful, but the sauce is just good to very good. Because it's so thin, those with overly discriminating tastes might need a few more slices than the average bear, but is that really a bad thing? It is if you like hot pizza, as Ridgeway really has that surface area to volume ratio thing going against it and cools faster than pets.com's popularity. Right out of the oven, Ridgeway's pizza is a force to be reckoned with. Right out of the box, it loses something and becomes merely very, very good.

The bottom line. Thin crust diehards, look no further, for Ridgeway is king and you are its lowly peasant. But seriously, it's pretty good.

Establishment: 15/30
Pizza: 23/30
Hits the Spot: 8/10
Large Cheese: $10.75

  6. I have to respectfully disagree with the other commenters. I had a pie from Ridgeway last night and it was terrible. I would rather have a Papa John's pie (I'm not kidding).

It was basically in the same style as a Papa John's pie. Flavorless bland crust and flavorless bland sauce.

I agree that the guy who answered the phone was friendly though.

  7. I DONT SEE HOW RIDGEWAY WAS THAT BAD,CONSIDERING IVE SENT NUMEROUS FRIENDS TO RIDGEWAY PIZZA,AND ALL THEY DO IS THANK ME FOR TURNING THEM ON TO RIDGEWAY, BUT CONSIDERING THERES NO PAPA JOHNS IN STAMFORD,ITS HARD FOR ME TO BELIEVE THAT YOUR EXPERIENCE WAS THAT BAD,IF ITS TRUE,MAYBE THEY HAD AN OFF NIGHT,WHICH THEY USUALLY DONT,BUT CONTACT NICK AND LET HIM NO,BELIEVE ME HE WILL MAKE THINGS RITE WITH YOU,AND THE MAN YOU TALKED TO WAS PROBABLY NICK,A VERRY NICE GUY,GOOD NITE

  8. I like Ridgeway a lot. It reminds me of a place I used to hit in NYC near my old high school. Very thin crust and tasty sauce. Very consistent. They trash Ridgeway on Chowhound.com, but that doesn't really matter to those who really know how pizza is supposed to be. If you want to spend $20 on a "gourmet" pie, by all means, hit up Tarry Lodge. If you like dry crust, then definitely hit Pepe's. But if you want simple, cheap, good NYC-style pizza...Ridgeway is your place.

  10. hello people.first i must say thank you spt, this site really helped me and my family find a good pizza place,i must say we had ridgeway pizza the other night and it was absolutely delicious, nice thin crust, excellent sauce and very nice family run business, they even had there 10 and 12 year old boys there helping out, we tryed remos and amores, and i must say at each place we found it not to be 100 percent, they were decent pies but ridgeway was 100 percent perfect, thin crust, excellent sauce ,and cooked to a perfect crisp, remos sauce i thought was bland, and amores i thought had to much crust left, but ridgeway had there sauce to the edge,to me thats pizza, where you eat the crust and not throw it out,as of now ridgeway is the best, gonna be hard to find a better pizza in stamford, thank you,...tony pisaneli

  11. Ridgeway is your run of the mill hole in the wall. Nick and his staff are nothing but the nicest people I have dealt with at a pizza joint. I usually get delivery from them, and their delivery times are excellent. Quickest was 15 minutes after an order (I'm about 7 miles away, through high ridge road traffic, that's pretty good). The pizza SOMETIMES is a hit or miss for me. When they make it right, it's the best in Stamford hands down. Other times it can be underwhelming, whether it be undercooked or whatnot. Their dinners are pretty good, and like the other poster said, their garlic knots are out of this world. I have been ordering from them since 2002-2003, and I have no complaints since. If they ever get a bigger place for a dining room, I am confident they would be top of the list.
